![]() ![]() I am currently reading the William Gibson book, Neuromancer, which is what got it into my head to revisit Matrix. The unique fashion and filming style as well as various terminology used in the movie were homages to previously cult properties such as Mamoru Oshii’s Ghost in the Shell and the cyberpunk novel by William Gibson, Neuromancer. The Matrix brought the cyberpunk dystopian future of digital consciousness to the mainstream, but it was not the first story to bring this type of world to life. The original Matrix was released in 1999 and it hit box offices with massive impact. The Matrix, a culmination of many previous science fiction worlds, and uniquely relevant to modern sci-fi story telling, is a movie that both inspires and is replicated through many other more recent films. ![]()
